Lacuna Atelier is the multi-disciplinary fine art component of our practice and the seminal ground from which all our work develops.
Lacuna Atelier operates within and rejects the reductive categorization of the fields of Fine Art, Furniture Design, Industrial Design and Graphic Design. Our field is the aesthetic and intellectual expression of the ineffable that defies categorization, specialization and preconception.
Lacuna Atelier works independently, in concert with select Lacuna Architecture projects, and with independent patrons to explore new territories of expression, propose and generate new works.
Lacuna Atelier is a laboratory for experimental research into idea, scale, material and technique. Lacuna Atelier directs the aesthetic and programmatic responses to these entry points, to leverage and elucidate their engagement within of our culture.
Lacuna Atelier identifies the limitations and opportunities of each work, tests those boundaries and empowers the work toward new modes of expression. The project behind our work is the ongoing exploration and distillation of the ideas within the craft, media, material, space and time that gives our work agency.
Lacuna Atelier allows each project, each venture, to inform the media we employ to best respond to, and advance project aims. Drawing, painting, photography, architecture, glass work, metal fabrication, carpentry, digital processing codes, film, and sound are but a few of the media we employ.
Lacuna Atelier generates original individual works and works in series for purchase, specific commissioned works, as well as raw data and material for integration in our other works. In all cases, Lacuna Atelier resources the essential materials for the expression of every project, crafts materials with a relentless attention to detail, and prepares the delivery of each work as an integral part of every project.
