In collaboration with the “Design Denied” post-professional research team at Archeworks, Chicago, IL.Devotional is a sectarian relic from a yearlong study into the question, “why design is withheld from those in need?”  The study sought to identify specific societal and social conditions that actively withheld the very design that would improve the lives of and even liberate marginalized populations who are victim to those conditions.  The relic is evidence of the complexities of such a mandate and an invitation to the viewer to make such a commitment of their own to interrogate these premises, conditions, and possible resolutions.
