Reconstruction of a historic hunting lodge and family compound on a private island in a coastal flood plain.

A palate of Alaskan yellow cedar shingles and siding, board-formed concrete, and blond limestone, ties the varied structures of the compound together with a understated elegance.

A forty-foot skylight over the main hall connects the primary volumes of the main house, celebrating the gabled structures and the connection to the surrounding landscape.
Ram Island was the sensitive re-creation of a historic family compound through a contemporary lense and updated program.

We worked intimately with the clients to understand and reinterpret near every moment, every aspect of their estate, creating an architectural language of gabled vernacular structures to celebrate personal history, and sleek modern interventions to acknowledge forward looking moments.
